A Typical Day at Inside Out Day Nursery

At Inside Out Day Nursery, every day is shaped around the children — their interests, ideas, and individual needs. While no two days are ever the same, our routine provides a familiar structure that helps children feel safe, confident, and ready to learn.

Our day begins with a friendly welcome as children arrive and settle into the nursery at their own pace. Practitioners take time to support smooth transitions, sharing information with parents and helping children feel happy and secure as they start their day.

Throughout the morning, children take part in a wide range of child‑led and adult‑supported play experiences. Using open‑ended resources and an enabling environment, children are encouraged to explore, create, and follow their own interests. Children are offered a healthy breakfast if they attend in the morning, followed by opportunities for snacks and drinks throughout the day. Mealtimes are relaxed, social occasions where children are encouraged to develop independence, try new foods, and enjoy time together.

Every child enjoys a freshly prepared, home‑cooked meal each day, supporting healthy growth and development. Breakfast and tea are also available, with families able to opt in or provide their own healthy alternatives if they wish.

We believe that outdoor play is essential for children’s development. Children have regular opportunities to enjoy fresh air, physical activity, and outdoor learning, helping them to build confidence, coordination, and a love of the natural world.

For our younger children, and those who need it, we provide calm spaces for rest and sleep. Quiet activities are also available, allowing children to relax and recharge in a way that suits them.

In the afternoon, children continue to explore through play, with activities adapted to reflect their interests and energy levels. Practitioners observe, support, and extend learning, helping children to develop skills, confidence, and independence at their own pace.

As the day comes to an end, children enjoy calm, familiar activities before being collected. Practitioners share key moments from the day with parents, supporting strong partnerships and continuity between home and nursery.
